Parkinson's Disease is a disease I hold close to my heart. The disease took my grandfather (pictured at the left when he was in his 20's) away from me way too soon. So far, a cure hasn't been found, but thanks to people like Michael J. Fox, they're a lot closer now than they were when my grandfather died back in the early 90's.If you're not familiar with Parkinson's Disease, it's the disease that Muhammad Ali has been battling for most of his adult life. It's very frustrating for those afflicted with the disease because, for the most part, their mind is still functioning normally, but their body is not. Their body shakes. Their speech is slurred. They lose control over their bodily functions. And, as you'll hear in the interview below between Charlie Rose and Michael J. Fox, you never know how long you'll have to live with "this gift" as Fox calls it.
If you have some time, please watch this video. I've been a fan of Fox's since I was a kid. You may not agree with everything he believes in, but no one can deny that he's a remarkable individual who's raised a tremendous amount of money for the fight to find a cure for this disease.
If you'd like to help find a cure for Parkinson's Disease, please go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research website or go to the National Parkinson Foundation's website to find out how you can help.
Thanks - Jason.
Make it a charitable day!
P.S. I miss you granddad. You were my hero.
